My car is a 2005 Prius and my husband drives a 2006 Mazda. Most recently, we talked about the possibility of financing a new car because his transmission needed repair. In the end, we opted for repairs because we like the comfort of no car payments.
About a month ago, Greg began working on the Prius headlamps because they were yellow and looking old. He spent many hours with water and sandpaper trying to restore the look and never finished with the final steps. Around the same time, I also obtained an estimate to have the spoiler painted along with headlamp restoration. The estimate to paint the spoiler was $298.65 and another $300 to clean and restore the headlamp plastic. We decided to put my cosmetic car repairs on hold until the income picks up and spent our reserves to repair the transmission in his car.
Two weeks ago, someone backed into my car at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater. His insurance company wrote me a check for $563.91 to repair damage. I am not sure how or why (I choose to believe its grace and favor from God) but the cosmetic blemishes on the spoiler/hatch of my car were included in the repair of my bumper after my simple question - what would you charge to include this at the time you do the bumper repair? Wow - included! I highly recommend this generous and thoughtful repair shop - RIGHT!Last night, Greg and I picked up my car from Prestige Auto Body Express on Jeronimo in Lake Forest. It was around dusk and neither of us had noticed when we headed out to drive UBER for the evening. This morning, in the daylight I noticed something surprising about my car... All four of the plastic head and tail lamp covers where clear - no longer foggy looking. Keep in mind, I never pointed out, suggested, or mentioned anything about my headlamps to the repair shop since Greg had been working on them.
Today, Greg and I feel blessed because this just seems impossible - unbelievable - that the hassles of an accident could take care of to-do-items on our wait list.
